What to Do After a Flood or Water Leakage

The first thing you should do following a floor or water leakage issue is assess the situation and understand how big the problem is. It’s important to make sure that the area you’re checking is safe to inspect (especially in regards to flood damage) before looking at the area. In almost all cases however, here are some of the most important things you should do first:

  • Turn off the water supply to your house
  • Make sure to disconnect and power off any electrical applications in the affected area
  • Move any furniture or items to prevent further damage
  • Photograph the area for insurance purposes
  • Get in contact with someone who specializes in flood/water leakage problems
